I am defiant when it comes to Valentine’s Day. No flowers or chocolates for me. I would much rather have a surprise gesture on a random day, thankyouverymuch. Nor will we be going out to dinner and fighting the crowds. That’s never really been our scene. But I get it that the kids are excited about it, and I like doing sweet things for each other, so this is what it looks like chez Boswell…
-Grilling out steaks and fish tonight.
-I’m baking a pound cake since it’s Clay’s favorite using my Christmas gift KitchenAid mixer. It’s cherry red. Fitting, don’t ya think? When you google pound cake recipes, sometimes you do find the Best Pound Cake recipe 🙂 It is pretty darn good, so you should check it out. And no, it’s NOT part of the Fitness February food groups. I will only have a sliver, I promise!
-Little gift bags for the kids with some candy and valentines
-A few decorations of pink and red and a smattering of conversation hearts.
That’s it. Nuttin’ fancy for sure. But celebrating with my favorite people.
What does Valentine’s Day look like for you?

My mom gave me the very same mixer, fire engine red several years ago!

Rebecca, isn’t it wonderful? I found myself saying, “where has this been all my life?” Now to learn how to make pasta with it!
